Understanding our approach to licensing

license-status.txt
$ cat license-status.txt LICENSE MODEL Orchestration: Open source, MPL-2.0 Infrastructure as a Database: Commercial license Source Code: github.com/stategraph/stategraph # The code in the public repository is MPL-2.0 licensed. # The state database and enterprise features are # commercial, in the cloud or self-hosted with a key.

How the licensing splits

Orchestration is open source. The code in github.com/stategraph/stategraph is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. Read it, build it, and run it yourself.

Infrastructure as a Database is commercial. The state database is available in the hosted service, or self-hosted with a license key. It is an annual contract.

Enterprise features are commercial. RBAC, centralized configuration, and advanced approval workflows are in the hosted service and in the self-hosted Enterprise Edition.

What This Means for You

What you can expect from us:

  • Read and run the Orchestration code under MPL-2.0
  • Clear licensing terms, stated in the repository
  • Predictable roadmap driven by customer feedback and real-world needs
  • Professional support and regular security updates
  • Long-term stability without sudden pivots or rug pulls

We build in the open. The Orchestration source code is public and MPL-2.0 licensed, and we share our roadmap and our engineering decisions. The commercial boundary is stated in the repository README.
